Helen submitted her bio online.  You can, too.

Helen is a valuable member of the Hunter Classics Board.

Helen has been playing pool since 1999.

I started playing pool because:
One night when I was in college, my husband decided to take me out to play pool. I fell in love with the game immediately, and couldn't get enough of it. We then joined the Texas A&M Pocket Billiards Club, and I began to compete in collegiate tournaments. I got better as the years progressed, and eventually got to go to the college nationals twice. I also started playing the Hunter tournaments and became even more hooked! What a wonderful group of gals.

I love most about pool:
When you play 9-ball, only nine balls are involved (duh), but there are an infinite number of situations that can spring up in any game of 9-ball. What other games can say that? Also, competition is a wonderful aspect of the game, not only do you have to be skilled, but also you have to be mentally prepared.

Did someone influence you and pool? If so, who, how and what does it mean to you?:
Well, my hubby introduced me to it and got me started. Then my friend Barry from College Station taught me many useful things. I would play races of 9-ball with him basically 6-7 nights a week for a couple of years. Talk about a pool hall junkie!

I want people to really know about me:
I've heard many people say that I look sad or downcast when playing matches, whether I'm winning or losing. I'm really working on that, and I hope people don't get the impression that I don't want to win. I have lots of competitive spirit, and I enjoy playing pool against people who challenge me competitively. It's just difficult sometimes, because I am a very empathetic person, and since most of the people which I play against are my friends, it's hard to see them get a bad roll and be impassive about it. But I'm gonna try to!

Non-pool related:
Just that I am a professor at San Antonio College, I teach anatomy and physiology. So if anyone needs any help with that class, let me know!

Highest Finish:
2nd at Lake Jackson in 2005 (I think that's the right year).  I also won a Fast Eddie's tournament in Nov of 2007.
