HUNTER CLASSICS AMATEUR WOMEN'S TOUR
Aug 29-30, 1998
Phoenix, AZ
Six Shooters

It was a Hunter Tour First!  Two spots were given away to two different WPBA Events!

The hot and dusty city of Phoenix, AZ brought 56 women together to fight for money, pride and qualifying WPBA spots on the weekend of August 29 and 30.  Some old faces showed up to the 6th stop of the Hunter Tour and some new faces showed up, as well.

Many semi-pros entered this tournament because the next WPBA event is only a week away in the same city.  And, some potential semi-pros entered the event as well.  This stop must have been one of the toughest ones yet this year.
In the main event, new comers both to the Hunter Tour and to the United States were fighting for first and second places.  Karen Corr (from England) beat Julie Kelly (also from England) in the finals to take home the top prize of $1000 and two WPBA qualifying spots!  One to the Gentleman Jack tournament in Austin in 1999, and for the WPBA event next weekend in Prescott, AZ, Sept. 3-6, 1998.  Total value of $2200!  Congratulations Karen!

Phoenix, AZ was beautiful and Six Shooters was a great host!!  June Walter continues to remain in the lead with her new total points to date at 190!

Check out the charts on-line to see who played who, who beat who and who won what!

Congratulations to all the Hunter women on this hot and dusty Arizona weekend!!!

THANK YOU!!
Once again, special thanks to everyone who made this stop possible.  To Wes Hunter for donating such a beautiful custom cue.  To Six Shooters for letting us play in their wonderful establishment this weekend.  If you ever get a chance to make it to Six Shooters, it is a beautiful pool hall.  They let us use all their 15 nine foot tables.  They also have bar tables, 8 foot tables, video games, 4 shuffle boards, steal dart boards along with electronic dart boards, a great menu, along with a large area to sit down and eat and maybe catch a football game, and a wonderful waitstaff!  Thanks a bunch Six Shooters!!  And, also to Gentleman Jack for contributing money to the second chance tournament, and for a WPBA qualifier spot.
