HUNTER CLASSICS AMATEUR WOMEN'S TOUR
Lisa
Marr Wins Two in a Row!
Vegas is known
for it's unlimited gambling, awesome shows, and long nights. But
you wouldn't know what was going on outside of Pool Sharks on the weekend
of September 14-15th where John Kutcher and Joe Cannella owners of Pool
Sharks in Las Vegas, NV hosted another wonderful tournament. 39 ladies
came to play and 15 of them were vying for the WPBA Qualifier. This
was the 6th Hunter Classics Stop of the year, and Lisa Marr won her second
tournament in a row! Leslie Anne Rogers came in second, securing
her first place in the points.

The ladies started
play Saturday morning on the newly re-felted nine-foot tables, including
one of them in the "pit," an area surrounded by rails where fans and spectators
can watch the match below them.
Wes Hunter donated
another beautiful Hunter Classics Custom Cue valued at $1,900 which local
player Stephanie Whiteside won on Sunday night. A big thank you to
Al Lawrence our tournament director and Frank the daytime bartender for
helping the ladies out all weekend.

There were only
8 ladies left in the main tournament on Sunday morning. Texan's Leslie
Anne Rogers and Melinda Bailey were playing one winner's side match while
Julie Stephenson, also from Texas, was playing Melissa Morris from California
in the other winner's side match. Leslie and Melissa would eventually
play for the hot seat with Leslie winning 7-3. On the one-loss side,
Rachael Abbink, who's home is in Canada, defeated Orietta Strickland from
Texas and Lisa Marr from Arkansas defeated Vegas' LaDonna Ulrich.
LaDonna and Orietta placed 7th/8th and won $100 while Melinda and Julie
(both board directors) placed 5th/6th and won $150. Rachael Abbink
placed 4th and won $255 and Melissa Morris placed 3rd and won $400.

Morris (7-3) before meeting up with Lisa again in the finals.
Lisa Marr defeated
Mindy Williams (7-1), Stephanie Croft (7-1) and Lucille Donahue (7-3) before
losing to Leslie. Lisa didn't look back while on the one-loss side,
defeating Susan Mello (7-5), LaDonna Ulrich (7-4). Julie Stephenson (7-5),
Rachael Abbink (7-5), and Melissa Morris (7-3). Lisa then met Leslie
in the finals, where Lisa would have to defeat Leslie two sets in this
double elimination format. Lisa won the first set 7-2 and the second
set 7-1. Lisa collected $750 for her first place finish along with
the WPBA Qualifier. Leslie won $550 for her second place finish.
Lisa has now
won two stops in a row, two qualifiers in a row, and also had to 'double
dip' her opponent in the finals two tournaments in a row. What a
run she is on! Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful weekend!
Sunday was also
home to the Hunter Classics second chance tournament where 24 ladies vied
for the $110 added tournament. Susan Mello of Arizona placed 1st
and won $110 and Anya Reyngold of Vegas placed second and won $75.
