HUNTER CLASSICS AMATEUR WOMEN'S TOUR
Nov. 14-15, 1998
Arlington, TX
Speeds Billiards

Tour Championship!!

As usual, Speeds Billiards in Arlington hosted a great event!  52 Women showed up to fight for many things: titles, awards, places, and raffle items.  Congratulations to Orietta Strickland who won the last event of 1998!  Orietta also wins the qualifying spot for the WPBA Gentleman Jack Event in Dallas in February in 1999.

Julie Kelly came in second for the second time this year, Melanie Koger fought hard for third and Lisa Marr continues to climb farther and farther in each tournament, and placed fourth!  Congratulations ladies!

The last stop, the eighth stop, is also the Tour Championship.  June Walter held her reign with the most points and won Tour Championship!!  Congratulations June!

June was voted “Sportsperson of the year” by her peers and Melinda Bailey was voted “Most Improved Player” by her peers.  Congratulations ladies!  These two women roomed together throughout the year - along with Shayla Neris who counted the ballots.  Is there something fishy here?

Well, due to the contents of the last newsletter, several hunter tour members wrote in opinions about certain issues.  Because of this, Susan and Dora came up with a survey to see what the members would like to see in the future of the hunter tour!  Check out the survey and the results!  This is your tour ladies!  Become a part of it!

Robert, a local, won the Hunter cue, donating much money to win it, too (see his picture on the photographs page)!

Check out the charts for the second chance and last chance.

Once again, special thanks to everyone who made this stop possible.  To Wes Hunter for donating such a beautiful custom cue and to Lisa Sacca (right) for hosting a wonderful tournament!  Lisa is always a gracious host - even raffling off great Speeds jackets (that everyone wanted!).  Melanie Koger and Lucille Donahue won those beautiful jackets!

Thanks also go to Mike Ross who ran the main event on Sunday and to Shayla Neris for running the second chance tournament and the last chance tournament.  Shayla did such a wonderful job running the tournaments, that she may be recruited from now on!!
